Text Only Lapel Pins

How are these pins made? 

That’s a great question, it really depends on the letters/words being used. Most of the time the pin is actually molded due to the complex nature of the shape of Text Only Lapel Pins. This allows us to create “cut outs” in the middle or between letters. This means parts of your custom lapel pin can be “see through!” 

The mold of the pin design is created initially in a 3D graphics program or CAD. The resulting 3D model is sent to a CNC machine and a mold is cut from a steel block. The mold can now be filled with a zinc-alloy that is a freer flowing metal alloy that gets into all the nooks and crannies found in custom Text Only pins.

From that point, the pin is treated like any other custom lapel pins. The pin is polished in preparation for it’s electroplating and polished again there after. The polishing allows for a smooth final product when it’s metal coloring is applied but also gets rid of most of the burrs from the molding process.
